Uses the OCR technology to identify the text embedded in digital images and saves it in a document. Coverts to and from JPG, GIFF, PNG, BMP, TIFF and other image formats.
Calf Image to Text Converter is a tiny OCR application that can transform into plain text any written information stored in an image file. Besides, this tool is also an easy-to-use image converter, allowing you to save your digital photographs in any of the other formats supported. These include the most widely used image file types, such as JPEG, BMP, TIFF, PNG, and TGA.
Together with the two main functions mentioned above, this compact tool includes a batch conversion interface that you can use to queue up any number of files for multiple image-to-text or image-to-image conversions. Batch conversion, however, has its limitations, as not all possible conversions are allowed here. For reasons that escape me, only JPEG, BMP, and TIFF are allowed as input formats for batch text recognition. Likewise, you can batch convert any amount of images in any of the supported formats only into JPEG, BMP, TIFF, PNG, and GIF.
The program is capable of recognizing text in more than twenty languages. Together with the usual suspects, you can find non-roman languages, like Russian or Greek, and even languages using double-byte character sets, such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
